YHC Chamber Choir blog/website

I just realized that I forgot to post the YHC Chamber Choir website and European tour blog from December.  I used SquareSpace again but this time used the updated version 6.  I actually prefer version 5 MUCH more but they were offering free version 6 sites with a paid version 5 site, so I took this as my 'freebie' with the paid church website.

The graphics and design are great but I still prefer the interface for updates in version 5 - it allows me more customization using HTML code.

Open Health Tools, Inc. website

Started a new contract with openhealthtools.org for their website design and maintenance.  I'm using SquareSpace to build the site and LOVE it.  This is my first experience with a subdomain that has a different location than the main site - it was a little scary at first but it actually ended up mapping perfectly within a few hours! :)

DirectTrust website

This was my first time using SquareSpace to build a website.  The client already had the site partially up and wanted to keep it with SquareSpace.  I have found that I LOVE doing sites here and will recommend it to anyone I deal with in the future!  Its got a clean look and it is easy to customize.  Plus you can have different levels of permissions for editors so that they can update their own site, but not risk messing up the basic structure.  So nice!

Church website re-design

I re-designed our church website and moved the host from yahoo to SquareSpace and I love it.  Its a much cleaner look and I can give the ministry-leaders the ability to update their own pages.

My favorite part is the pull-down menu style:

CollaborationSource website

Finally got back to designing websites!  Had fun doing a small 3-page site for CollaborationSource.  They wanted a clean site with no frills - and although it is very clean, I don't think it looks too simple.  Just right.  Also revamped their logo.

This was my first time doing a contact form and it works perfectly, which makes me very happy!

OASIS website

It's summer and I've had time to do a few small design jobs.  The first was re-doing the website for OASIS, an educational program for older adults here in the area.

Back to the chalkboard....

Well, I'm back to teaching math full-time this Fall! I will still be doing some graphic design, but it will probably slow down.

The good news? I may not be the best teacher at YHC, but I'll have the best-looking website. This is still a work in progress, so my policies might change a little before school begins, but here's what I have so far....

Blue Ridge Mountain Fitness Website

I did this a while ago but just realized I forgot to include it here.

Click on the picture to see the 'live' site. And if you live in the area, check out the club - they're great people and its a fun place to workout. If you visit the website, check out the cute favicon in your address bar - I liked that.

PenCity website

This site won't actually be 'live' for awhile because the owner is going to do his own pages. He has 1800 pages, but I just did 3 for him (one of each kind) and he'll do the coding from there. He is very knowledgeable in html and will do a great job, but I just don't have the time to do it all before I start work in August. (teaching math!)

I was happy to get the chance to do an illustrative website - I've always wanted to.

Church website re-do

I felt like some new colors and started to go light....greens and grays with whites. But then I liked this damask black background and well....it all go a little dark. Its pretty though! Don't know how long I'll keep it.What do you think? Do you like the colors? Any and all comments will be taken under advisement.

UPDATE: Ok, I changed the size of the buttons on the left and made a shape out of the header. I think this will be it for awhile.

Ottava Battuta blogger background

This time I'm trying a fixed-position background so there isn't a 'slice' to repeat. Its just one huge image that remains fixed. The text will scroll, but the image remains fixed. Not sure I like that effect as much as a moving background, but it does enable you to make nice images.

And here is the custom header that goes at the top:

Another blogger theme

This is for a friend doing a blog on saving money by using coupons. Its a great site and pertains directly to the stores I shop at.

First the background slice:and then the header: And here's what it looks like when all put together: (click to visit the site)

Blogger backgrounds

I've been wanting to learn how to do backgrounds for blogger and finally took the time to figure it out. Turns out - not too hard! I did both this site and my friend Joann's.

First you make a background 'slice':
And then you code blogger to use that slice as a background, repeating in the y-direction.

Here is the 'slice' for Joann's site:
And here is the finished blog.
Fun!

It's a wrap

Gathered all of the files for visumpoint and sent them in a zip file to the client. I notice this morning that the site is live! Nice to be done and it turned out great - I am very proud of it. They ended up going with the black background.

VisumPoint Website

Working on a website for VisumPoint still. I think we have the graphics nailed down and are now just working on the navigation and content. The client is getting me the content little by little...it should be done by the end of next week. You can see a 'live' version here...

Church site up and running

I got the church site up and I'm really happy with it. I have the slideshow of the announcements running, which takes its content from Flickr so I can just add new announcements there and don't have to change any code.

my own website

Worked a little more on my own website today. Still don't like the typography but didn't have time to tweak it. Also I want to add a few more little graphics here and there. But still...its better than what I had last week!

websites

I really liked the circly- things on the left and right of the KSM site. I originally was going to use black behind the text but found it made the text look ugly so I switched that to white.

There are some neat roll-over effects on the buttons along the left side.(my first time making and using sprites, for you web dev people out there). I've re-worked the header quite a few times to get the text to be legible so you can read the name of the church. I like what we have now.

We still have some issues to work out with the content of some of the pages (mostly the 'live music' page). They can all be viewed by clicking on the photo.

website background for Children's Ministry

My very first time using CSS to code the page. I have re-done it and cleaned it up as I've learned more, but kept the simple, clean look. You can see it live here....

Possible Website Design

This is for a friend that has a trumpet ministry.
